Þessi lög fullgilda Haag-samninginn frá 1954 um vernd menningarverðmæta í vopnuðum átökum á Íslandi. Samningurinn skuldbindur íslensk yfirvöld og her til að vernda menningarminjar, söfn, kirkjur og önnur menningarverðmæti í stríðsaðstæðum.
This law ratifies the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict in Iceland. The convention obligates Icelandic authorities and military forces to protect cultural monuments, museums, churches and other cultural assets during wartime conditions.
