Þessi lög breyta mörgum öðrum lögum sem snúa að fiskveiðum, fiskieldi og lax- og silungsveiði til að einfalda regluverk og stjórnsýslu. Lögin hafa áhrif á alla sem starfa í sjávarútvegi og fiskieldi á Íslandi.
