Lög um almannatryggingar kveða á um almannatryggingakerfið á Íslandi sem veitir öllum íbúum landsins grunnöryggi í formi lífeyris, sjúkratrygginga og annarra félagslegra bóta. Lögin tryggja að allir sem búa á Íslandi eigi rétt á þessum grunnþjónustu óháð efnahag eða starfi.
