Þessi lög kveða á um lögbundin verkefni Íslenskra lifeyrissjóða (ÍL-sjóðs) og skilgreina þau skylduverk sem sjóðurinn þarf að framkvæma. Lögin hafa áhrif á stjórnendur og starfsmenn ÍL-sjóðs auk þeirra sem eiga rétt á bótum eða þjónustu frá sjóðnum.
