Þessi lög kveða á um fullkominn aðskilnað ríkisins og þjóðkirkjunnar og setja nýtt lagaumhverfi fyrir starfsemi allra trúar- og lífsskoðunarfélaga á Íslandi. Lögin hafa áhrif á þjóðkirkjuna, önnur trúfélög og lífsskoðunarfélög sem og ríkisstjórnina.
This law establishes complete separation between the state and the National Church and creates new comprehensive legislation governing the activities of all religious and life-stance organizations in Iceland.
