Þessi lög fjalla um skipulag og starfsemi utanríkisþjónustu Íslands, þar á meðal sendiráð og ræðismannsstöðvar erlendis. Lögin hafa áhrif á starfsmenn utanríkisráðuneytisins og utanríkisþjónustunnar sem og íslenska ríkisborgara sem þurfa þjónustu utanríkisstofnana erlendis.
This law governs the organization and operations of Iceland's foreign service, including embassies and consulates abroad. It affects foreign ministry employees and diplomatic staff as well as Icelandic citizens who require services from Icelandic diplomatic missions overseas.
