Hjúskaparlög setja reglur um stofnun hjúskapar, réttindi og skyldur hjóna og upplausn hjúskapar. Lögin ná til allra sem hyggjast giftast eða eru gift á Íslandi og gilda um fjárhagslega og persónulega þætti hjúskaparins.
The Marriage Act establishes rules for entering into marriage, the rights and obligations of spouses, and the dissolution of marriage. The law applies to all individuals who intend to marry or are married in Iceland and governs both financial and personal aspects of marriage.
