Þessi lög veita stuðning við Istanbúl-samninginn, sem er alþjóðlegur samningur um að koma í veg fyrir og berjast gegn ofbeldi gegn konum og heimilisofbeldi. Lögin hafa áhrif á alla íslenska ríkisborgara og stofnanir sem vinna að verndun kvenna gegn ofbeldi.
This law provides support for the Istanbul Convention, which is an international treaty to prevent and combat violence against women and domestic violence. The law affects all Icelandic citizens and institutions working to protect women from violence.
