Þessi lög heimila Íslandi að skuldbinda sig valfrjálst til viðbótar skuldbindinga samkvæmt alþjóðasamningnum um efnahagsleg, félagsleg og menningarleg réttindi. Lögin hafa áhrif á íslenska ríkið og geta styrkt vernd borgaranna á sviði efnahags-, félags- og menningarréttinda.
This law authorizes Iceland to voluntarily commit to additional obligations under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The law affects the Icelandic state and may strengthen citizens' protection in the areas of economic, social and cultural rights.
