Þessi lög setja reglur um stjórnun fiskveiða á Íslandi, þar á meðal úthlutun veiðiheimilda og kvóta. Lögin hafa áhrif á alla sem stunda fiskveiðar í íslenskri lögsögu, þ.e. fiskiskip, útgerðarmenn og sjómenn.
This law establishes regulations for fisheries management in Iceland, including the allocation of fishing licenses and quotas. The law affects all those engaged in fishing within Icelandic jurisdiction, including fishing vessels, fishing companies and fishermen.
