Þessi lög fjalla um stjórnun og eftirlit með fiskveiðum á Íslandi og setja reglur um veiðigjald sem greiða þarf fyrir veiðileyfi. Lögin hafa áhrif á alla sem stunda fiskveiðar í íslenskri lögsögu, þ.m.t. íslenska og erlenda fiskiskip.
