Þessi lög kveða á um afstöðu íslenska ríkisins til átaka sem eiga sér stað á botni Miðjarðarhafs. Lögin hafa áhrif á utanríkisstefnu Íslands og samskipti við önnur ríki í tengslum við þessi átök.
