Þessi lög fjalla um stofnun og starfsemi Náttúrufræðistofnunar Íslands og náttúrustofa um land allt. Lögin kveða á um hlutverk þessara stofnana við rannsóknir á náttúru Íslands og fræðslu almennings.
This law establishes and governs the Icelandic Institute of Natural History and natural history museums throughout the country. The law defines the role of these institutions in conducting research on Iceland's natural environment and educating the public.
