Þessi lög fullgilda og lögfesta valfrjálsa bókun við samning Sameinuðu þjóðanna um réttindi fatlaðs fólks. Lögin hafa áhrif á öll opinber stjórnvöld og aðila sem veita þjónustu við fatlaða einstaklinga á Íslandi.
This law ratifies and legally implements an optional protocol to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It affects all public authorities and service providers who work with disabled individuals in Iceland.
