Þessi lög innleiða samning Sameinuðu þjóðanna um réttindi fatlaðs fólks og tryggja að fatlað fólk á Íslandi njóti sömu mannréttinda og annað fólk. Lögin hafa áhrif á alla einstaklinga með fötlun og skuldbinda íslenska ríkið til að tryggja jafnrétti þeirra.
This law implements the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and ensures that disabled people in Iceland enjoy the same human rights as everyone else. The law affects all individuals with disabilities and obligates the Icelandic state to guarantee their equal rights.
