Þessi lög fjalla um aðild Íslands að Evrópska efnahagssvæðinu (EES) og innleiðingu EES-samningsins í íslenskan rétt. Lögin hafa áhrif á öll fyrirtæki og einstaklinga á Íslandi þar sem þau tryggja frjálsa för vöru, þjónustu, fjármagns og fólks milli Íslands og ESB-ríkjanna.
