Fjáraukalög eru sett þegar þörf er á að breyta fyrri fjárlagaáætlunum ríkisins á yfirstandandi ári. Þessi fjáraukalög fyrir árið 2020 breyta fjárlögunum sem samþykkt voru í lögum nr. 104/2020 og aðlaga útgjöld og tekjur ríkissjóðs að nýjum aðstæðum. Lögin hafa áhrif á rekstraráætlanir ríkisstofnana og opinber útgjöld á árinu 2020. Þau taka mið af breyttum efnahagsaðstæðum eða þörfum sem komu upp eftir að upphafleg fjárlög voru samþykkt.
