Lögin heimila þingmönnum að taka þátt í nefndarfundum í gegnum fjarfundarbúnað við sérstakar aðstæður. Nefndarmenn geta nú notað fjarfundi þegar heilsufars- eða sóttvarnarástæður, samgöngutruflun, veikindi aðstandenda eða fundir utan starfsáætlunar réttlæta það. Breytingin hefur áhrif á alla alþingismenn sem sitja í nefndum Alþingis og gerir starfið sveigjanlegra í undantekningartilvikum. Tilkynna þarf nefndarritara um notkun fjarfundarheimildar með eins góðum fyrirvara og unnt er.
The law allows members of parliament to participate in committee meetings via remote communication equipment under special circumstances. Committee members may now use remote participation when health or pandemic-related reasons, transportation disruptions, illness of relatives, or meetings outside the parliament's schedule justify it. The amendment affects all members of parliament who serve on parliamentary committees and makes their work more flexible in exceptional cases. Use of remote meeting authorization must be reported to the committee secretary with as much advance notice as possible.
