Lögin breyta tímabundið úthlutun tollkvóta fyrir landbúnaðarvörur til að milda áhrif kórónuveirufaraldursins á innlenda framleiðslu. Í stað eldra jafnvægisútboðs fer úthlutun eftir hæstu tilboðum (hæstbjóðendur fá fyrst) frá gildistöku til 1. ágúst 2022. Lögin uppfæra einnig vörunúmer í tollskránni fyrir tilteknar plöntur og blóm. Breytingin hefur áhrif á innflytjendur landbúnaðarvara og getur haft áhrif á verð til neytenda.
The law temporarily changes the allocation of tariff quotas for agricultural products to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on domestic production. Instead of the previous balanced bidding system, allocation is based on highest bids (highest bidders receive first) from the effective date until August 1, 2022. The law also updates product codes in the tariff schedule for certain plants and flowers. The change affects importers of agricultural products and may impact consumer prices.
