Þessi lög bæta bráðabirgðaákvæði við lög um Lúganósamninginn vegna útgöngu Bretlands úr Evrópusambandinu. Ákvæðið tryggir að reglur samningsins um dómsvald og viðurkenningu dóma gildi áfram um mál frá Bretlandi sem hafin voru fyrir árslok 2020, þrátt fyrir að Bretland sé ekki lengur aðili að samningnum. Lögin eiga við um dómsmál, dómsáttir, opinber skjöl og önnur gögn sem koma til meðferðar íslenskra dómstóla og tengjast breskar málsaðilum. Markmiðið er að vernda hagsmuni einstaklinga og lögaðila sem eiga í réttarmálum við Bretland.
This law adds a transitional provision to the Lugano Convention Act due to the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union. The provision ensures that the convention's rules on jurisdiction and recognition of judgments continue to apply to UK cases initiated before the end of 2020, even though the UK is no longer a party to the convention. The law covers court cases, settlements, public documents, and other materials involving UK parties that come before Icelandic courts. The aim is to protect the interests of individuals and legal entities involved in legal matters with the UK.
