Þessi lög fella úr gildi sérlög um vísitölu byggingarkostnaðar frá 1987, þar sem almenn lög um Hagstofu Íslands teljast fullnægjandi til að halda áfram að reikna vísitöluna. Hagstofa Íslands mun halda áfram að mæla byggingarkostnaðarvísitöluna, en á grundvelli almennra hagskýrslulaga í stað sérlaga. Jafnframt er gatnagerðargjald bundið formfastar við ákveðið verðmæli frá desember 2021 sem Hagstofa Íslands uppfærir síðan mánaðarlega. Lögin hafa áhrif á alla sem nota byggingarkostnaðarvísitöluna í samningum og á sveitarfélög sem innheimta gatnagerðargjöld.
This law repeals the 1987 special legislation on the construction cost index, as general laws on Statistics Iceland are considered sufficient to continue calculating the index. Statistics Iceland will continue to measure the construction cost index, but based on general statistical laws rather than special legislation. Additionally, the street construction fee is more firmly tied to a specific price benchmark from December 2021 that Statistics Iceland then updates monthly. The law affects anyone who uses the construction cost index in contracts and municipalities that collect street construction fees.
