Lögin breyta lögum um málefni innflytjenda og fela Fjölmenningarsetri nýtt hlutverk við móttöku flóttamanna og annarra einstaklinga með alþjóðlega vernd. Fjölmenningarsetur skal nú veita sveitarfélögum faglega ráðgjöf og bjóða fólki með vernd að setjast að í tilteknu sveitarfélagi eftir samráði. Stofnuninni er heimilað að afla og vinna með persónuupplýsingar frá Útlendingastofnun og sveitarfélögum til að sinna þessu hlutverki. Lögin bæta einnig einum fulltrúa frá heilbrigðisráðherra í Innflytjendaráð.
This law amends the Immigrant Affairs Act and assigns the Multicultural Centre a new role in receiving refugees and other individuals with international protection. The Centre shall now provide professional guidance to municipalities and offer protected individuals settlement in specific municipalities after consultation. The institution is authorized to collect and process personal information from the Directorate of Immigration and municipalities to fulfill this role. The law also adds one representative from the Minister of Health to the Immigration Council.
