Þessi lög hækka endurgreiðsluhlutfall framleiðslukostnaðar fyrir stór kvikmynda- og sjónvarpsverkefni á Íslandi úr 25% í 35%. Hækkað hlutfall gildir fyrir framleiðslur þar sem kostnaður er að lágmarki 200 milljónir króna, tökudagar eru að lágmarki 30 og að minnsta kosti 50 starfsmenn vinna beint að verkefninu. Minni verkefni halda áfram að fá 25% endurgreiðslu. Markmiðið er að efla samkeppnishæfni Íslands í alþjóðlegri kvikmyndagerð og styrkja atvinnugreina tengda kvikmyndagerð.
This law increases the production cost reimbursement rate for large film and television productions in Iceland from 25% to 35%. The higher rate applies to productions with minimum costs of 200 million ISK, at least 30 shooting days, and at least 50 staff working directly on the project. Smaller projects continue to receive the 25% reimbursement rate. The goal is to strengthen Iceland's competitiveness in international film production and support film industry employment.
