Lögin gefa eigendum smábáta sem stunda strandveiðar hvata til að skipta yfir í rafmagn. Bátar sem knúnir eru eingöngu rafmagni fá leyfi til að landa allt að 750 kg af kvótabundnum tegundum í hverri veiðiferð, í stað þess hámarks sem gilt hefur verið, sem er 650 kg. This law provides an incentive for small boat owners engaged in coastal fishing to switch to electric power. Boats powered entirely by electricity are permitted to land up to 750 kg of quota species per fishing trip, compared to the previous limit of 650 kg. This is intended to encourage the transition to renewable energy in the fishing industry and reduce the use of fossil fuels, as part of the government's goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
