Lögin stofna nýja ríkisstofnun sem heitir Land og skógur og tekur gildi 1. janúar 2024. Stofnunin sameinar tvær eldri stofnanir, Landgræðsluna og Skógræktina, undir eina stjórn og forstöðumann. Land og skógur annast framkvæmd og eftirlit með lögum um landgræðslu og skógrækt, vinnur að landsáætlun á þessu sviði og veitir ráðherra ráðgjöf. Lögin uppfæra einnig tilvísanir í eldri stofnanirnar í öðrum lögum.
This law establishes a new government agency called Land og skógur (Land and Forests), which takes effect on January 1, 2024. The agency merges two previous institutions, the Soil Conservation Service and the Forestry Service, under unified management and a single director. Land og skógur oversees and implements laws on land reclamation and forestry, develops national plans in these areas, and advises the minister. The law also updates references to the former agencies in other legislation.
