Lögin gera eftirlifandi maka eða fyrrverandi maka kleift að nota fósturvísi eða kynfrumur hins látna eða fyrrverandi maka til tæknifrjóvgunar, að uppfylltum ákveðnum skilyrðum. Þetta krefst skriflegs og vottaðs samþykkis þess sem lagði til kynfrumurnar eða samþykkti geymslu fósturvísanna. Eftirlifandi eða fyrrverandi maki verður að vera einhleypur við tæknifrjóvgun og geta notað efnið í eigin líkama. Sá sem samþykkir þetta telst foreldri barnsins þrátt fyrir andlát eða fyrri sambúðarslit, og lögin breyta einnig barnaréttinum til samræmis.
This law allows a surviving spouse or former spouse to use frozen embryos or gametes from a deceased or former partner for assisted reproduction, under specific conditions. This requires written and certified consent from the person who donated the gametes or consented to embryo storage. The surviving or former spouse must be single at the time of treatment and able to use the material in their own body. The person who gives this consent is considered a parent of the child despite death or prior separation, and the law also amends child custody law accordingly.
