Lögin breyta launahækkunum sem áttu að taka gildi 1. júlí 2023 fyrir fjölda háttsettrar embættismanna og kjörinna fulltrúa. Í stað þeirrar launahækkunar sem þegar var ákveðin í lögum, koma launahækkanir upp á 2,5%. Þetta á við um laun forseta Íslands, alþingismanna, ráðherra, dómara, saksóknara, lögreglustjóra, seðlabankastjóra og ríkissáttasemjara. Breytingin er tímabundin og tengist verðbólgumarkmiði Seðlabanka Íslands.
This law modifies the salary increases that were scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2023, for a number of high-ranking officials and elected representatives. Instead of the previously legislated salary increase, a 2.5% increase is applied. This applies to the salaries of the President of Iceland, members of Parliament, government ministers, judges, prosecutors, police commissioners, the Central Bank governor, and the state mediator. The change is temporary and relates to the Central Bank of Iceland's inflation target.
