Lögin breyta búvörulögum og veita framleiðendafélögum í kjötframleiðslu undanþágu frá tilteknum samkeppnisreglum. Þau leyfa fyrstu framleiðendum kjötafurða sem annast slátrun og/eða vinnslu að sameinast, skipta með sér verkum milli afurðastöðva og hafa samstarf til að lækka kostnað. Félagið verður þó að bjóða öllum framleiðendum sömu kjör, ekki setja skorður við að framleiðendur eigi viðskipti við aðra, og ráðherra skal leggja fram skýrslu um reynslu af reglunum fyrir lok árs 2028.
This law amends the Agricultural Products Act to grant producer associations in meat production an exemption from certain competition rules. It allows primary producers of meat products who handle slaughter and/or processing to merge, divide work between facilities, and collaborate to reduce costs. However, the associations must offer the same terms to all producers, not restrict producers from doing business with others, and the minister must submit a report evaluating the rules' impact by the end of 2028.
