Lögin gera ráðherra heimilt að framlengja tímabundna setningu forstjóra Náttúrufræðistofnunar Íslands og Landmælinga Íslands til 30. september 2024. Venjulegar reglur um auglýsingu og ráðningar í embætti samkvæmt lögum um réttindi og skyldur starfsmanna ríkisins gilda ekki fyrir þessar tímabundnu framlengingar. Lögin hafa áhrif á stjórnun þessara tveggja ríkisstofnana og gera kleift að halda áfram með tímabundna forstjóra án þess að auglýsa embættin að nýju.
This law allows the minister to extend the temporary appointment of the directors of the Icelandic Institute of Natural History and the National Land Survey of Iceland until September 30, 2024. The normal rules regarding advertising and recruitment for public positions under the law on rights and duties of state employees do not apply to these temporary extensions. The law affects the governance of these two state institutions and enables them to continue with temporary directors without having to advertise the positions anew.
