This amendment extends and increases financial assistance for residents of Grindavík who need to rent housing elsewhere due to seismic activity. The maximum amount of special housing support increases, for example from 150,000 ISK to 180,000 ISK for single-person households, and the percentage of rent costs covered rises from 75% to 90%. The support, which was originally set to expire at the end of February 2024, is now extended through the end of August 2024, and the law must be reviewed by the end of June 2024.
