The law establishes a connection between Iceland's company registry and the registry systems of other EEA countries, enabling the sharing and retrieval of company information across borders. Icelandic limited liability companies, private limited companies, and branches of foreign companies will be assigned a unique European identifier. The Directorate of Internal Revenue is authorized to process personal information about board members, owners, and other related parties to the extent necessary for registration and providing access to information. The law implements parts of a European directive on company law and promotes increased transparency and information flow regarding companies within Europe.
