Lögin breyta reglugerð um Verðlagsstofu skiptaverðs og úrskurðarnefnd sjómanna og útvegsmanna. Helstu breytingar eru að ráðherra fær heimild til að láta forstöðumann annarrar ríkisstofnunar gegna jafnframt forstöðu Verðlagsstofu skiptaverðs í allt að fimm ár í senn. Þá er uppfært hvaða stéttarfélög og samtök fá aðgang að álitum stofnunarinnar, þar sem nöfn samtaka eru færð til nútímahorfs (t.d. Félag skipstjórnarmanna í stað Farmanna- og fiskimannasambands Íslands og Samtök fyrirtækja í sjávarútvegi í stað Landssambands íslenskra útvegsmanna). Lögin hafa áhrif á starfsemi Verðlagsstofu skiptaverðs, sjómenn, útvegsmenn og tengd stéttarfélög.
This law amends regulations governing the Price Office for Share Value and the arbitration board for seamen and fishing operators. The main change allows the minister to appoint the director of another government agency to simultaneously serve as director of the Price Office for up to five years at a time. The law also updates which trade unions and organizations have access to the office's opinions, modernizing organization names (e.g. replacing the old Seamen and Fishermen's Association with the Association of Ship's Masters, and replacing the old Federation of Icelandic Fishing Vessel Owners with the Association of Fishing Companies). The law affects the operations of the Price Office, seamen, fishing operators, and related trade organizations.
