Lögin fresta gildistöku laga um Mannréttindastofnun Íslands frá 1. janúar 2025 til 1. maí 2025. Alþingi skal kjósa fimm einstaklinga í stjórn stofnunarinnar til eins árs fyrir lok 155. löggjafarþings. Það ráðuneyti sem fer með málefni fatlaðs fólks skal tryggja samfellda réttindagæsluþjónustu til 1. maí 2025, meðal annars með tímabundnum ráðningum og þjónustusamningi við Mannréttindaskrifstofu Íslands. Þegar stofnunin tekur til starfa 1. maí 2025 munu skjöl og verkefni réttindagæslumanna fatlaðs fólks flytjast til hennar.
This law postpones the effective date of the Icelandic Human Rights Institution Act from January 1, 2025 to May 1, 2025. Parliament must elect five members to the institution's board for a one-year term before the end of the 155th legislative session. The ministry responsible for disability rights must ensure continuous advocacy services for disabled persons until May 1, 2025, including through temporary staff hires and a service agreement with the Human Rights Office. When the institution begins operations on May 1, 2025, documents and responsibilities related to disability rights advocacy will be transferred to it.
