Lögin færa starfrækslu netöryggissveitar Íslands, CERT-IS, frá Fjarskiptastofu yfir til varnarmálayfirvalda. Netöryggissveitin verður áfram landsbundið viðbragðsteymi fyrir netárásir og öryggisatvik og tengiliður Íslands í alþjóðlegu samstarfi, en nú með aukna áherslu á þjónustu við samfélagið, fyrirtæki og almenning. Sveitin mun samhæfa viðbrögð við netógnum í samstarfi við ríkislögreglustjóra og taka þátt í alþjóðlegu samstarfi á vegum Atlantshafsbandalagsins. Breytingin hefur áhrif á skipulag netöryggismála á Íslandi og flytja tilteknar skyldur frá Fjarskiptastofu til varnarmálaráðuneytisins.
This law transfers the operation of Iceland's national cybersecurity team, CERT-IS, from the Post and Telecom Administration to the defense authorities. The cybersecurity team remains Iceland's national response team for cyberattacks and security incidents and serves as the country's liaison in international cooperation, but with increased emphasis on serving society, businesses, and the general public. The team will coordinate responses to cyber threats in cooperation with the National Police Commissioner and participate in international cooperation through NATO. The change affects the organizational structure of cybersecurity matters in Iceland and transfers certain responsibilities from the telecommunications regulator to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
