This law amends regulations on reception of waste from ships in Icelandic harbors to implement new EEA rules. The main changes require harbor authorities to prepare plans for receiving and handling waste and cargo residues, though small harbors may be exempted. The law also expands the definition of ship waste to include waste accidentally caught in fishing nets. Fishing vessels and small recreational boats with regular harbor visits are exempted from certain fees if they demonstrate reliable waste delivery and payment.
