This law amends the rules about when the Icelandic flag may be flown. From May 1st to August 15th, it is now permitted to fly the national flag around the clock, but otherwise it must not be raised before 7 a.m. and should generally not remain up past sunset, and never past midnight. Additionally, the law requires that the flag must be intact and in correct colors when hoisted. The law affects everyone who uses the Icelandic flag, whether public institutions or private individuals.
