Þessi þingsályktunartillaga ber það errand að stofna starfshóp sem ætti að kanna hvernig náttúrustofur landsins starfa og hvort þær gætu tekið að sér fleiri verkefni. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að tengslin milli náttúrustofa og ríkisins hafa veikst mikið síðan árið 2002, þegar ríkið dró sig til baka frá beinni stjórn stofanna, og jafnframt hefur fjármagn til þeirra minnkað. Starfshópinn myndi leita leiða til að bæta samstarf náttúrustofa og ríkisins svo að rannsóknir og náttúruvernd væru sem árangursrík. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu náttúrustofur fá fleiri formleg verkefni og betri tengsl við ríkisstofnanir, sem myndi styrkja rannsóknir á íslenskri náttúru og vernd hennar.
This parliamentary resolution proposes creating a task force to examine how Iceland's natural history institutions operate and whether they could take on more responsibilities.
