Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felur í sér að ríkisstjórnin myndi stofna starfshóp til að rannsaka hvernig efnahagshrunið árið 2008 hafði áhrif á börn á Íslandi. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að tíu ár höfðu liðið frá hruni og engin yfirgripsmikil rannsókn var til um það hvernig börnum gekk á þessum árum, sérstaklega börnum sem áttu erfiðlega fjárhagslega stöðu. Starfshópinn myndi skoða hvernig það hafði áhrif á heilsu barna, menntun og efnahag, og hvort þjónusta við börn væri ekki nóg góð eftir hrunið. Ef tillagan nær fram myndu við fá skýr svör um hvort börn hafi dottið aftur á strik og hvort við þurfum betri stefnu til að verja börn ef svipaðir erfiðleikar koma upp.
This parliamentary resolution proposes that the government set up a task force to investigate how the 2008 financial collapse affected children in Iceland. The resolution was put forward because ten years had passed since the crisis and there was no comprehensive study of how children fared during those years, especially children from low-income families. The task force would examine how the collapse affected children's health, education, and finances, and whether services for children had been cut back enough to cause harm. If the resolution passes, we would get clear answers about whether children have recovered and whether we need better policies to protect children if similar hardships occur again.
