Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felur í sér að óska eftir því að framkvæmdavaldið kanni hvort hægt sé að framleiða kolefnishlutlaust eldsneyti á Íslandi með því að nota raforkuna okkar til að búa til vetni og sækja kolefni úr lífmassa eða andrúmsloftinu. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að flug og skip sem nota venjulegt eldsneyti valda miklu mengun og draga úr orðstír Íslands sem umhverfisvænt land. Ef tillagan tekur gildi myndu skipaflotar okkar og flugfélög geta notað hreinni eldsneyti, sem myndi auka samkeppnishæfni landsins og hjálpa til við að draga úr kolefnisútblástur. Þetta gæti einnig skapað ný tækifæri fyrir íslenska atvinnugreinar eins og ferðaþjónustu og fiskveiðar.
This parliamentary resolution proposes that the government investigate whether it is possible to produce carbon-neutral fuel in Iceland by using our electricity to create hydrogen and extract carbon from biomass or the atmosphere. The proposal was put forward because aircraft and ships that use regular fuel cause significant pollution and damage Iceland's reputation as an environmentally responsible country. If the resolution passes, our shipping fleets and airlines could use cleaner fuel, which would increase the country's competitiveness and help reduce carbon emissions. This could also create new opportunities for Icelandic industries such as tourism and fishing.
