Björn Leví Gunnarsson spyr umhverfis- og auðlindaráðherra þrjár spurningar um losun gróðurhúsalofttegunda frá ökutækjum og hvort Ísland geti staðið við alþjóðlegar skuldbindingar sínar í loftslagsmálum. Það skiptir máli vegna þess að Ísland hefur lofað alþjóðasamfélagi að minnka losun gróðurhúsalofttegunda og ökutæki eru stór hluti vandans. Svörin myndu sýna okkur hvort Ísland sé á réttri leið og hvað gæti gerst ef við náum ekki markmiðum okkar, þ.e.a.s. hvort við þurfum að borga sekt og hvert þeir peningar myndu fara.
Björn Leví Gunnarsson asks the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources three questions about greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles and whether Iceland can meet its international climate commitments. He wants to know how much of emissions come from vehicles and how much they need to be reduced. This matters because Iceland has promised the international community to cut greenhouse gas emissions and vehicles are a major part of the problem. The answers would reveal whether Iceland is on track and what happens if we fail to meet targets—specifically whether Iceland would have to pay penalties and where that money would go.
