Þessi þingsályktunartillaga fjallar um dómtúlka og hvernig auðveldara væri að verða dómtúlkur á Íslandi. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að það eru of fáir dómtúlkar starfandi hér og of fáum tungumálum er boðið upp á. Núverandi lög setja mjög strangar kröfur til dómtúlka og það hefur gert það erfitt fyrir nýja fólk að öðlast löggildingu síðustu árin. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu lögin breytast þannig að kröfurnar myndu minnka, fleiri gætu orðið dómtúlkar og fleiri tungumál væru þjónustuð. Þetta væri mikilvægt til að fólk sem talar ekki íslensku geti notað dómstólana og skilið málsmeðferðina.
This parliamentary resolution addresses court interpreters and how to make it easier to become a court interpreter in Iceland. The proposal was put forward because there are too few court interpreters working here and too few languages are available. Current laws impose very strict requirements on interpreters, making it difficult for new people to get certified in recent years. If the resolution passes, the laws would change so that the requirements would decrease, more people could become interpreters, and more languages would be served. This would be important so that people who don't speak Icelandic can use the courts and understand legal proceedings.
