Þessi þingsályktunartillaga leggur til að Alþingi heimili ríkisstjórninni að staðfesta nýja reglugerð um neytendavernd sem ESB samþykkti. Reglugerðin fjallar um samvinnu milli yfirvalda í mismunandi löndum þegar kemur að því að vernda neytendur og bera gegn ósanngjörnum viðskiptaháttum. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að Ísland þurfti á Alþingissamþykki að halda áður en hægt væri að innleiða reglurnar, þar sem engin þjóðlög voru fyrir hendi um efnið. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga munu nýjar reglur um neytendavernd og samvinnu landsvaldanna gilda hér á Íslandi, en það breytir ekki grundvallarreglum EES-samningsins.
