Jón Þór Ólafsson spyr sjávarútvegs- og landbúnaðarráðherra um fjárhagsstöðu Hafrannsóknastofnunar árið 2020. Hann vill vita hvort stofnunin geti sinnt sínu starfi með úthlutað fjármagni og hvort hún geti haldið sama fjölda starfsmanna. Hann spyr einnig hvort stofnunin fái fleiri verkefni og hvort hún hafi nægjanlegt fé til þess og til að ráða fleiri starfsfólk ef nauðsynlegt væri. Svarið mun segja okkur hvort Hafrannsóknastofnun sé of undirfjármögnuð og hvort hætta sé á að stofnunin geti ekki sinnt mikilvægum verkefnum sínum á sviði sjávarannsakana.
