Þessi þingsályktunartillaga fjallar um að bæta túlkaþjónustu fyrir fólk sem ekki talar íslensku eða notar táknmál. Tillagan felur í sér að ráðuneyti myndu stofna starfshóp sem myndi móta stefnu um hvernig megi auka fjölda túlka og bæta þá þjónustu sem þeir veita. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að á undanförnum árum hefur fjölgað innflytjendum og erlendu fólki á Íslandi, en um leið vantar margt á samfélagstúlka sem aðstoða fólk við samskipti við stjórnvöld, heilbrigðisþjónustu og félagslega aðstoð. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu innflytjendur og heyrnarlaust fólk fá betri aðgang að túlkum, stjórnvöld myndu geta veitt betri þjónustu, og fleiri myndu nota íslensku í samskiptum við opinberar stofnanir.
This parliamentary resolution proposes improving interpretation services for people who do not speak Icelandic or use sign language. The resolution calls for government ministries to establish a task force that would develop a policy on how to increase the number of interpreters and improve their services. It was put forward because Iceland has seen an increase in immigrants and foreign residents in recent years, while there is a shortage of community interpreters who help people communicate with government agencies, health services, and social support. If passed, immigrants and deaf people would gain better access to interpreters, public authorities would be able to provide better service, and more people would use Icelandic when communicating with public institutions.
