Bryndís Haraldsdóttir og félagar hennar lögðu fram frumvarp sem miðar að því að sveitarfélög fái að taka þátt í ákvörðunum um staðsetningu nýrra áfengisverslana ÁTVR. Hingað til hefur ÁTVR haft fullt frelsi til að opna verslanir án samráðs við sveitarfélög, sem hefur oftast leitt til óánægju þar sem staðsetningarnar hafa ekki alltaf passað við skipulags- og umhverfismarkmið sveitarfélaganna. Með þessu frumvarpi væru sveitarfélögin gerð að lögbundnum samráðsaðilum til að tryggja að fleiri sjónarmið komust fram við val á staðsetningu.
Bryndís Haraldsdóttir and her colleagues introduced a bill that would give municipalities the right to participate in decisions about where new state-run alcohol stores (ÁTVR) are located. Until now, ÁTVR has had complete freedom to open stores without consulting municipalities, which has often caused disagreement since store placements have not always aligned with municipal planning and environmental goals. This bill would make municipalities legally required partners in location decisions to ensure more perspectives are considered.
