This parliamentary resolution asks the Icelandic Parliament to approve two new European regulations on medical devices. The first rule covers general medical devices and the second covers tests that can be performed outside the body to diagnose diseases. The proposal was put forward because Iceland is part of the EEA agreement and must follow new European rules on the safety and quality of medical devices. If the resolution passes, Icelandic companies and organizations that use or sell medical devices would need to comply with stricter international standards and rules about testing and certification.
