Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felur í sér að Ísland ætti að hætta að senda flóttafólk til Grikklands. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að aðstæður fyrir flóttamenn í Grikklandi eru mjög slæmar og fólk verður fyrir ómannúðlegri meðferð þar. Stærstu alþjóðlegu barnaver- og hjálparsamtök hafa gagnrýnt harðlega að Ísland sendir fólk, sérstaklega börn, til þess lands. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu íslensk stjórnvöld ekki lengur mega senda flóttafólk til Grikklands, hvort sem það hefur þegar fengið vernd þar eða ekki, fyrr en aðstæðurnar batna og mannréttindi eru tryggð. Ísland hafði í raun þegar hætt að senda flókkinn árið 2010 vegna sömu vandamála, en nú vill þingið formalega setja þennan bann til frambúðar.
This parliamentary resolution proposes that Iceland should stop sending refugees to Greece. The resolution was put forward because conditions for refugees in Greece are very poor and people face inhumane treatment there. Major international child welfare and humanitarian organizations have strongly criticized Iceland for sending people, especially children, to that country. If the resolution passes, Icelandic authorities would no longer be allowed to send refugees to Greece, whether they have already received protection there or not, until conditions improve and human rights are protected. Iceland had actually already stopped sending this group in 2010 for the same reasons, but now parliament wants to formally establish this ban permanently.
