Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felst í því að Ísland undirskrifi og fullgildi alþjóðlegt samkomulag sem gefur börnum rétt til að bera málin sín fyrir Sameinuðu þjóðir ef þeim finnst réttindi þeirra brotin hér á landi. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að 44 lönd hafa þegar samþykkt þetta samkomulag og það er talið stórkostlegur áfangi í barnaréttindum. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu börn og foreldrar þeirra geta sent kvartanir til alþjóðlegrar barnaréttarnefndar og fengið úrskurð þeirra, sem myndi styrkja réttindi barna og gera þeim kleift að berjast fyrir málum sínum á alþjóðavettvangi.
This parliamentary resolution proposes that Iceland sign and ratify an international agreement that gives children the right to bring their cases to the United Nations if they believe their rights have been violated in Iceland. The resolution was put forward because 44 countries have already adopted this agreement and it is considered a major milestone for children's rights. If the resolution passes, children and their parents could submit complaints to an international children's rights committee and receive their judgment, which would strengthen children's rights and allow them to advocate for their cases on an international level.
