Ari Trausti Guðmundsson spyr umhverfis- og auðlindaráðherra hvort hann telji nauðsynlegt að láta sérfræðinga kanna erlendar rannsóknir um það hvort svefnvörur úr plasti, einkum rúmdýnur, geti skaðað heilsu okkar vegna kemískra efna sem losna úr plastinu. Hann spyr einnig hvort verið hafi að kanna hvort koddar og rúmdýnur sem seldar eru á Íslandi innihaldi óholl efni, og hvort til séu erópskir staðlar sem vernda gegn slíkum heilsuspillandi áhrifum. Þetta skiptir máli vegna þess að margt fólk eyðir löngum stundum við svefn á þessum vörum og gætu skaðlegu efnin haft áhrif á heilsu okkar. Svörin myndu segja okkur hvort ríkisstjórnin tekur þessa heilsuvá alvarlega og hvort Ísland fylgi stöðlum annarra Evrópulanda.
Ari Trausti Guðmundsson asks the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources whether he believes it necessary to have experts review foreign research on whether bedding products made from plastic, especially foam mattresses, could be harmful to health due to chemical substances that escape from the plastic. He also asks whether it has been examined whether pillows and mattresses sold in Iceland contain unhealthy substances, and whether European standards exist to prevent such harmful effects. This matters because people spend long hours sleeping on these products, and any toxic chemicals could affect our health. The answers would reveal whether the government takes this health concern seriously and whether Iceland follows the same standards as other European countries.
