Frumvarpið leggur til að 1. desember verði gerður að lögbundnum frídegi til að minnast fullveldisdagsins 1918 þegar Ísland varð frjálst og fullvalda ríki. Þetta myndi bætast við núverandi fjóra lögbundna frídaga í lögum um 40 stunda vinnuviku og hefði áhrif á alla launþega á Íslandi.
The bill proposes to make December 1st a statutory public holiday to commemorate Iceland's sovereignty day in 1918 when Iceland became a free and sovereign state. This would be added to the existing four statutory holidays in the 40-hour work week law and would affect all employees in Iceland.
